Ms. Kay's Banana Pudding Recipe
When the men of A&E's hit show Duck Dynasty work up an appetite, they head to Ms. Kay's kitchen. One of their favorite treats is her famous banana pudding.
Who is America's favorite family? It may just be the Roberston clan from West Monroe. They have captured the country's attention with their hit A&E reality TV show Duck Dynasty. As owners of Duck Commander and Buck Commander, the Robertsons take full advantage of Louisiana's Sportsman's Paradise. Each episode of Duck Dynasty ends with the family gathered around the table for some of Ms. Kay's (the family matriarch) delicious home cooking. Here, she shares how to make banana pudding, one of her favorite recipes and one of the Robertsons' favorite desserts.
Ingredients:
- 2 sticks of butter
- 2 cups of sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 12-ounce can of evaporated milk
- 3/4 cup of milk
- 6 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 bag vanilla wafers
- 2 bananas, sliced
Method of Preparation:
In a large double boiler, melt the butter and then add the sugar, salt, flour, evaporated milk and regular milk. Stir with a whisk. Add the egg yolks to the mixture, constantly stirring until thick. Add the vanilla extract.
Place the vanilla wafers and bananas into a 9-inch-by-13-inch dish. Then pour in the mixture. Chill before serving.
