About Louisiana Music Trail

You can now explore Louisiana's musical past and present in a whole new way!

The Louisiana Music Trail is the state's largest music initiative to highlight the history of Louisiana's treasured music innovators and help drive commerce to regional points of interest. Developed by the Office of Cultural Development and the Office of Tourism, the Louisiana Music Trail aims to provide a modern, robust trail that tells the story of the state’s many historic contributions to music. The trail has launched in tandem with the Year of Music and is being curated collaboratively with the music community and those working to preserve our musical legacy. Every region has a unique musical legacy and music scene. Every region has a great anecdote, music lore, or music event that helps define it. There is an abundance of content to be curated and celebrated. Explore the historically significant sites and stories, our current music culture ambassadors, local live music calendars, and much more.

The first phase will unveil 45 captivating stories about legendary Louisiana musicians who paved the way. Subsequent phases will expound on the story of Louisiana music and include physical markers and QR codes, augmented reality and other technologies, and strategic in-state and out-of-state partnerships and collaborations.

Stay tuned for Phase 2, coming Fall 2024!
