An excellent choice for the adventurous, the Port of Iberia is a launchpad for paddling trips in any direction. Located near the Louisiana coast between New Orleans and Houston, the port provides access to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico through its own Commercial Canal. It also provides access to the Mississippi River through major Baton Rouge and New Orleans ports.

The public dock offers long-term and short-term docking services, including electric power, water, security lighting and fencing. The marina offers 22 boat slips for recreational and commercial vessels, and short-term moorings are available, too.

Keep soaking up sunshine at nearby Cypremort Point State Park. The park’s geography makes it an excellent choice for windsurfing, an uncommon sport in the South. If you’re hungry, be sure to swing by for a cup of gumbo or plate of jambalaya at Café Jefferson, an authentic Cajun dig.
