Degas House is a Historic House Museum. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is distinguished by the French Ministry of Culture. Degas House is the only home or studio of Edgar Degas open to the public in the world. Guest room amenities include a small refrigerator, free sherry, bath products, free parking, free WiFi, as well as a Creole gourmet breakfast and a complimentary Edgar Degas Creole Impressionist Tour. French Ambassador to the United States, Philippe Etienne, visited Degas House in New Orleans on July 15 to celebrate the painter's 185th birthday and recognize the local landmark as one of the "Maisons des Illustres," or important French cultural sites.
