Tour du Teche is hosting the first 20-mile Chitimacha Paddle Race Saturday, May 16, from New Iberia's City Park to the public boat ramp in the Chitimacha Nation near Charenton. This one-day race is open to kayaks, canoes, pirogues and SUPs. Registration-which opens Monday, March 2, and closes the day of the race-is $50 per person and includes a performance shirt for each registered paddler and one registered coreur de bos per boat. Top of the Teche

Tour du Teche is hosting the third annual Top of the Teche paddle race Saturday, April 18, from Leonville's public boat ramp to Myran's Maison de Manger in Arnaudville. This 7.7-mile race for kayaks, canoes, pirogues and SUPs benefits the work of the Arnaudville Chamber of Commerce and the Leonville Volunteer Fire Department.

Great Mother's Day Canoe Race

Riverbend Canoe Rentals will host their 3rd annual Great Mother's Day Canoe Race on the Sabine River on Saturday, May 9. The race will begin at 1 p.m. at the Burr's Ferry Bridge. The finish line will be Riverbend Canoe Rentals in Evans, La. Every contestant will get a t-shirt, and trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places with cash prizes based on a percentage of the entry fees. Paddle Trip at Bay HaHa

Pack & Paddle will host a level 2 paddle trip involving three to five hours of paddling Saturday, April 4, to the Bay Haha area of the Atchafalaya Basin. Stacey Scarce, who works as the naturalist at the Acadiana Park Nature Station, will guide this trip through the cypress and tupelo-filled swamp.

Bayou Vermilion Paddle Trail

The Bayou Vermilion District, Lafayette Consolidated Government, CGI and the Bayou Vermilion Preservation Association have launched a collaborative interactive online paddle trail map for that details the Bayou Vermilion Paddle Trail. This innovative tool allows paddlers and boaters to navigate points of interest along the waterway. Users can locate and identify recreation areas, boat and canoe launches, businesses and other amenities from the northernmost access point on the Bayou Vermilion District's North Landing all the way to public boat launch in the Intracoastal Canal.
