Caroline Dormon Trail

This out-and-back trail is located southwest of Natchitoches off the Longleaf Trail, a paved road through the Kisatchie Forest. The trail is unusual for Louisiana, with elevation changes of 200 feet in one direction along its 12-mile length. A good trail for horses, this is a good bike trail if you enjoy highly technical turns, drops and climbs and are prepared for sometimes-rugged conditions, like big rocks blocking a path.

From the intersection of I-49 and Highway 6 (Natchitoches), drive west on Highway 6 for four miles. Turn left (south) on Highway 117 and proceed 16 miles to Forest Highway 59, Longleaf Trail Scenic Byway. Turn left (east) on FH 59 and go to the signed location on the right (south).
