Property Description

Also known as the UCM ("you-see-em") Museum, the Abita Mystery House is a roadside attraction in Abita Springs about 40 minutes north of New Orleans. Louisiana's most eccentric museum and gift shop is a folk art environment with thousands of found objects and homemade inventions. A vintage gas station serves as the entrance for a labyrint of buildings connected by walkways. The collection includes interactive vignettes of Southern life, memorabilia, old arcade machines, a hand-cranked piano, as well as more than 50,000 found and recycle objects presented creatively and with humor by artist/impresario John Preble. Featured on "American Pickers."

Off I-12, Abita Springs/Mandeville Exit 65. The UCM is one block east on Hwy. 36 from the Abita Springs roundabout. Located in the town's historic district on the popular Tammany Trace bicycle trail.
