Lake D’Arbonne State Park
Fishing piers, boat docks and a launch give visitors easy water access at Lake d'Arbonne, the 15,000-acre centerpiece of Lake d’Arbonne State Park. Record catches of freshwater bass, crappie, catfish and bream make this a fishing haven, and the wide-open areas of the lake, about seven miles from the park, appeal to water skiers and pleasure boaters. Bring binoculars and camera to capture the natural world from your canoe or kayak (rentals available). As on many large bodies of water, wind can make for difficult paddling, but if you stick close to the shoreline you can explore the coves and inlets as you enjoy the scenery. Consider using a sea kayak here, or schedule your paddling early or late in the day when the conditions may be more favorable. The piney forests and rolling hills present many scenic views and opportunities for wildlife spotting. Trails are available for hiking and biking excursions. Return for a picnic under the canopy of pines. Lake d’Arbonne State Park is located at 3628 Evergreen Road, Farmerville. From Ruston, take Highway 33 north to Farmerville, then west on Highway 2 to Evergreen Road; go left one-third of a mile on Evergreen Road to the park.
