Bayou Deloutre

From Hwy. 2 Farmerville/Sterlington, turn left onto Wards Chapel Road. Turn right at Antioch Church and then take an immediate left behind the church. Turn right on DeLoutre Ramp Road.

There is a geocache site near the launch. Launching to the left will take you past a few rope swings, large beaver dams and a high cliff wall. Launching to the right will take you to a more open area with fisherman in boats. Portaging and overhanging trees likely, depending on water level.

Bayou DeLoutre was named by early French explorers who reported that the waterway was teeming with otters. Reclusive otters still live there today. Look for mayhaws along this trail. Bayou DeLoutre is part of the Natural and Scenic Rivers System.
