Popular tubing, kayaking and canoeing trips down the Bogue Chitto River. Formerly Wayne's World Tubing, Louisiana River Adventures now offers more activities on and around the river, including fishing (bring your pole and tackle), camping (tent and RV), and guided horseback riding trips at nearby Splendor Farms (call for details and reservations).
Open 6 days a week during the season, April 1-September 1 (closed Wednesdays) and no reservation is necessary. Off season, September 2-March 30, open only Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays or weekdays by appointment. Last float departs at 3pm. Cash preferred, but major credit cards accepted for a fee. Rates are listed here: http://www.louisianariveradventures.com/activities/ and prices include shuttle and life vests. Groups of 30 or more should call ahead.
The Bogue Chitto is a long and curvy waterway with a steady current. It is a designated scenic river way, therefore trees are not trimmed and sunken logs are not removed. Trips are 2 or 4 hours; however, stopping at sandbars and beaches along the way is encouraged. Everyone must return before dark.
Coolers, picnics, fishing gear, etc. are welcome. Supplies are available on site, including snacks, ice, drinks, waterproof cameras, sunblock, hats, sunglasses, water shoes and more. The river bottom is filled with debris, so although shoes are not required, they are recommended. Learn what to bring on your trip at http://www.louisianariveradventures.com/faqs/.
Follow the map on LRA's How To Get Here page at http://www.louisianariveradventures.com/location/. GPS is less reliable in the remote area; however, if relying on GPS instructions, enter "11697 Hunt Road" or "Highway 16 @ Hunt Road".
