Louisiana offers a wide array of programs that support the music community throughout the state. From musicians’ unions, to pro bono legal advice, or disaster assistance and health care, Louisiana recognizes the incredible music contributions these artists have made to the state’s unique culture and these programs give back to support its musicians.

Louisiana’s Music Ambassadors

Do you want to become a Louisiana Music Ambassador? Louisiana wants you and your band to help represent our incredible state by becoming a music ambassador! This program offers cash and stipends to musicians who perform at out-of-state music festivals and promote Louisiana by inviting attendees to visit Louisiana for a great experience including music, food, culture, the joie de vivre of the state. American Federation of Musicians

Learn about the American Federation of Musicians Union which is comprised of 80,000 musicians throughout the United States and Canada (AFM). AFM members perform across the board from orchestras and Broadway tours to music scoring for TV and film. The AMF is the largest union of musicians in the world with the purpose to unite the professional musicians and the industry. Recording Academy

Louisiana is part of the Memphis Chapter of the Recording Academy. This chapter services members offering professional development events and opportunities to community enrichment with MusiCares. Learn more about the Recording Academy.

Jazz Foundation of America

The Jazz Foundation of America is saving blues, jazz and roots one musician at time by offering support to musicians through work opportunities, emergency assistance, housing, medical and financial services. Learn more about the Jazz Foundation of America.

The ELLA Project

The ELLA Project, based in New Orleans, offers pro bono legal assistance for the arts and cultural communities in Louisiana. ELLA offers tools for artists, musicians and creators to compete in the modern economy by offering business consultations, workshops, and entrepreneurial training on marketing, finance and more.  Learn more about the services provided by the ELLA Project.

New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation

The NOMC provides affordable and comprehensive health care to musicians and performing artists in New Orleans for more than 20 years. Occupational and comprehensive health services are available for musicians, artists, performers, cultural workers, tradition bearers of New Orleans (Mardi Gras Indians, Social Aid & Pleasure Club Members), service industry workers and more. Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation

The Louisiana Cultural Economy Foundation assists musicians all across the state of Louisiana with facilitated access to healthcare resources to stay healthy and economic resources for growth and sustainability.
