Established in 1930, Kisatchie National Forest is the only National Forest in the state of Louisiana. The forest has more than 40 developed recreation sites and over 400 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding and ATV's.  Kisatchie offers a diverse forest of trees, lakes, flowers, wild animals and birds. Outdoor activities abound including: hunting, camping, fishing, swimming, bird watching, picnicing and so much more. Fun and adventure is waiting for you!

The Caney Ranger District encompasses over 32,000 acres and is divided into 3 units: Caney Lakes (north of Minden), Middle Fork (northeast of Homer), and Corney Lake (near Summerfield). The District administers 2 developed recreation areas:  Caney Lakes and Corney Lake. The Caney District has become a popular area for various hunting and fishing opportunities because of its close proximity to Minden, Shreveport, Ruston, and the Monroe areas.
