Based in New Orleans, Sweet Jones embodies the unified musical collaboration of husband/wife team, Matthew and Melissa DeOrazio, both on guitars and vocals. Featuring original compositions, as well as creative interpretations of other artists' songs, their music combines elements of electric blues, roots-rock, and Americana. They share a passion for music and creative expression, developed independently over the years in their respective musical worlds. The two have been performing together since 2006, officially formed as Sweet Jones in 2009. Sweet Jones has finished their latest album, "Magnolia", featuring 9 originals, plus one cover. The official release party was at Chickie Wah Wah on November 8th, 2012.They perform regularly in New Orleans, as well as regionally. Melissa and Matthew are regular volunteers and members at the local community-based/supported radio station, WWOZ, believing in being a part of the grassroots process of supporting music that they and their peers make in Louisiana. They enjoy playing festivals, markets and clubs, as well as performing at alternative venues and benefits, such as St. Joseph's Homeless Outreach Center, St Anna's Church & Musician's Clinic, and the Blues in the Schools (organized by House of Blues). In addition to great local support from fans and radio, they have had the opportunity to build professional support from local businesses. They are sponsored by New Orleans Guitar Company (local guitar luthier) and Earth Odyssey (local jewelry, gem, and holistic healing center).
