Flyway Byway State Scenic Byway
The Flyway Byway is a our Parish's brand new, state designated Scenic Byway, It's the 11th in the state of LA. These Byways are designed to get travelers off the Interstate to experience the real Louisiana. It comprises a 55-mile driving route through the communities of Welsh, Lake Arthur, and Jennings. And over 80 miles of existing waterway or 'blue way' routes throughout the Parish. It takes visitors on the scenic back roads of our parish, through our farmland and small communities. Right now, you can bike on an extreme bike trail from Lorrain Bridge to Niblett road, south of Welsh, you can canoe or kayak on the Lacassine Bayou and other existing waterways, or just drive and explore our local communities. More bike routes are in the planning stage. It's especially good for our Bird watching visitors, as the Flyway has tons of migratory birds all along the route. Maps and info are available at businesses along the route, or at the Jeff Davis Parish Tourist commission.
