The Pitot House, built in 1799 on the banks of Bayou St. John, is one of the oldest surviving Creole country homes open to the public. Now restored and furnished with period antiques, the house offers a unique glimpse of life and architecture in old New Orleans. Owned by a succession of notable citizens, the house reflects the economic and cultural changes experienced by the city over the past 200 years. The Pitot House is a National Trust for Historic Preservation Partner Place.
