With opening scenes set during Hurricane Katrina, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button establishes its connection to New Orleans immediately. The bittersweet romance of Benjamin and Daisy begins in the setting of City Park, with many other scenes of the movie filmed near the Pavilion and the Peristyle. Take a drive along Coliseum Street in the 11th Ward for a glimpse of the Nolan House, used as the senior living facility where Benjamin was raised as an old man and then spends the last few years of his life as a toddler and baby. If you’re looking for something away from the city, head to the Northshore and spend a couple of hours on the beach at Fontainebleau State Park; the beach there stood in for the English Channel, and the park itself was the setting of the tent church services early in the movie.
