Sports in Des Allemands Louisiana

Make Louisiana your playground. Whether you like to get out on the field and "mix it up" in a friendly ball game, swing the clubs on a beautiful course, or soak up the sports action from the comfort of a stadium seat, you'll find plenty of options. Check out the fabulous golf courses of the Audubon Golf Trail, for starters. Or check the schedules for college, semi-pro and pro sports teams. LSU football or basketball, anyone? Hockey in Louisiana? Yes, we have that too. Do you enjoy NBA basketball? Take a seat in the New Orleans Arena as the Hornets take the floor. And for professional football, perhaps you've heard of the current world champion NFL team called the New Orleans Saints!

With it's location along the Bayou Des Allemandes, Des Allemandes is commonly referred to as the "Catfish Capital of the Universe."  The city sits in St. Charles and Lafourche Parishes.  "Des Allemandes" means "the Germans" in French, the town, settled in 1721,  was one of the original German settlements. Visitors come from all over to enjoy the Louisiana Catfish Festival each year in June.
