Luling

Luling is one of the easternmost cities on the Great River Road, an approximately 70-mile stretch of highways spanning from the outskirts of New Orleans to Baton Rouge. The Great River Road is best known for its many plantation museums. Across the Mississippi River from Luling are Ormond and Destrehan plantations (both open to the public), and many other historic homes, both public and private, are found in the Luling area.

Luling is also home to the Alligator Festival, an event that honors Louisiana's official state reptile with carnival-style foods, crafts and music. If you want to get really close to alligators and other local wildlife, book a tour with one of Luling's swamp tour outfitters.
