Cut Off

Cut Off is a small fishing community that straddles Bayou Lafourche, along a stretch of Highway 1 that is best known as the route drivers take to Grand Isle. Cut Off's unique name comes from a canal that was dug by early settlers to connect Bayou Lafourche to New Orleans, which made travel more accessible to and from remote parts of Lafourche Parish. The settlement at the source of the canal became known as Cut Off.
