Ajax

Ajax is one of Louisiana's smallest communities — so small, in fact, that it's not a city at all. Ajax's population numbers around 50, and mail to the village is received in nearby Marthaville. Ajax was once known as Three Pines, for the tall trees outside of its schoolhouse. According to local history, one of the school's first teachers changed the name to Ajax, after the brand name of one of the engines that powered his sawmill.

Ajax is about halfway between Alexandria and Shreveport, on I-10. The Ajax Country Livin' RV Park is conveniently located close to Natchitoches, the Adai Caddo Indian Historic Village, Los Adaes State Historic Site and Rebel State Historic Site.
