Addis

Addis is a suburb of Baton Rouge, located 10 miles southwest of Louisiana's capital city, hugging the west bank of the Mississippi River. A post office was built in Addis in 1909, effectively establishing it as a city, though a railroad station had been built there nearly 30 years earlier. Addis owes its existence to the Texas & Pacific Railroad, which built a depot there in 1882. Addis is named for a railroad official named J.W. Addis.
