Cajun Country Courir de Mardi Gras

Head to Eunice for a unique five-day celebration: Cajun Country Courir de Mardi Gras! The Courir de Mardi Gras is not your typical idea of Mardi Gras with beads and throws; instead, you'll find men and women on horseback donned in hand-crafted wire masks and very distinctive costumes. This one-of-a-kind celebration begins the Friday before Mardi Gras Day, but the main event is the Courir de Mardi Gras procession or "chicken run" which involves chasing a live chicken to collect for a community gumbo! Throughout the weekend, experience the town's rural traditions with street dances, Mardi Gras exhibits and more!

Join the premier Mardi Gras walking parade featuring furry friends with the Mystic Krewe of Mardi Paws! The parade rolls and strolls on the Sunday following Mardi Gras Day. Parade-goers must be in costume, and up to six humans can accompany each four-legged friend. Human escorts are encouraged to dress to suit the theme, too!
