West Baton Rouge Parish is rich in river life and sugar plantation stories. Tour the Aillet House c. 1830, plantation "big house"; an authentic slave dwelling c. 1850; Freedman's family cabin; Civil Rights era plantation cabin; a Mercantile Plantation Store, and other historic buildings. From I-10 exit 153 and travel one mile North on Hwy LA 1. Turn right on Louisiana Avenue. Turn right on N. Jefferson Avenue. The museum is on the corner of Louisiana and N. Jefferson.
