Located minutes from downtown Baton Rouge, the West Baton Rouge Museum offers history exhibits and guided tours on a six acre campus. West Baton Rouge Parish is rich in river life and sugar plantation stories. Tour the Aillet House c. 1830, plantation "big house"; an authentic slave dwelling c. 1850; Freedman's family cabin; Civil Rights era plantation cabin; a Mercantile Plantation Store, and other historic buildings. Interact with a 22-foot sugar mill model c. 1904, enjoy a garden courtyard and browse the gift shop.

From I-10 exit 153 and travel one mile North on Hwy LA 1. Turn right on Louisiana Avenue. Turn right on N. Jefferson Avenue. The museum is on the corner of Louisiana and N. Jefferson.
