Property Description
From 1887 to 1980, Shreveport residents relied on the McNeill Street Pumping Station to provide clean water. Now a National Historic Landmark, it holds the honor of being the nation's last operating steam-powered water works. The museum contains rare, intact turn-of-the-century steam engines and examples of the evolution of water purification.
The power of steam also is showcased in historic railroad exhibits at this site. Shreveport once boasted several rail lines and depots.
