Come spend the first full weekend of October in Historic Downtown Gretna! A free ferry ride from Canal Street in New Orleans delivers you to the Gretna Ferry landing in the midst of the festivities. There are 7 music stages, 2 that overlook the majestic Mississippi river.  Each year offers a variety of talented musicians, from local artists to well known, popular bands. Some of the featured performers for 2011 include Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sara Evans, Grand Funk Railroad, Molly Hatchet and Brian Howe, former lead singer for Bad Company. There are food booths for every taste, from regional dishes to authenic German and Italian fare. A large assortment of craft booths showcasing artists from throughout the area have unique items for sale. Carnival rides and games for the children occupy a section of the festival grounds providing fun for the smallest fest - goer. A free shuttle from nearby Westside shopping center is available for parking convenience. The Gretna Heritage Festival has been named to the Southeastern Society's Top Twenty for 2004-2009, American Bus Association Top 100 Events in North America 2006-08 and AAA Southern Traveler Official Travel Treasure 2006.  For more information on our award winning festival please visit www.gretnafest.com
