The New Orleans African American Museum is located in Tremé, the oldest surviving black community in the United States. The museum is dedicated to protecting, preserving, and promoting the history and art of African Americans both in New Orleans and throughout the African diaspora. Exhibits are always changing, so be sure to call ahead to find out what is on display.

Directions

Take Esplanade Ave to N. Villerie. Turn (toward downtown) on N. Villerie and go one block to Governor Nicholls Street. The NOAAM is at 1418 Governor Nicholls, between N. Villerie and Marais Streets.
