Property Description

The Louisiana Orphan Train Society, Inc. of Opelousas, is dedicated to collecting and preserving items that tell the history of the Orphan Train Riders who came to Louisiana by train from the New York Foundling Hospital between 1873 and 1929. This museum is the only one of its kind in Louisiana and second in the nation to the Orphan Train Museum in Concordia, KS.
