Lacassine

Lacassine is a small community of about 500 residents, located on the outskirts of Lake Charles. Its main attraction is the Bayou Rum Distillery, the largest privately owned rum distillery in the U.S. Located just a 10-minute drive from Lake Charles, the distillery is a great place to spend a couple hours learning about the rum-making process and Louisiana's deep ties to the spirit, followed by a tour of the facility itself. Sample the three flagship rums (clear, spiced and satsuma-flavored) and pick up some sweet souvenirs in the gift shop.
