From Elvis Presley to Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter, Louisiana's Other Side's musical roots run deep and soulful. Music lovers and history buffs will love the Stage of Stars Museum at Municipal Auditorium, at 705 Elvis Presley Avenue in Shreveport.
Both Elvis and Lead Belly are among artists featured in the museum, which uncovers stories of the area's legendary people and places that have impacted the American music scene.
The museum features memorabilia for the heyday of the Louisiana Hayride, a radio show broadcast from the Municipal Auditorium from the late 1940s to the early 1970s. The Hayride was the launching point for many musicians. One of the most recognizable and beloved stars to get their start here was Elvis Presley.
Today a beautiful bronze statue of Elvis greets visitors, as well as one of James Burton, a local guitar legend who also played on the Hayride and in Elvis’ band.
