Location

740 2nd St.
Gretna LA 70053

The original structure was erected in 1907, in the Renaissance and Baroque styles. The three-story building housed the Jefferson Parish Courthouse until 1958. After renovation, the building was opened to the public in 1964 functioning as Gretna City Hall. In 1983, the structure was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The walls of the first floor are decorated with various old photos, mementos and a large map that all pertain to our area's history. The second floor has been restored to it's turn of the century granduer and serves as the meeting area for the City Council sessions each month. This unique and historic place is available for walking tours, but due to the fact that City Hall is a working government complex we do request that larger groups arrange dates and times prior to any tours.
