June 24 - 25, 2016
The Louisiana Peach Festival is one of the longest continuing agriculture festivals in Louisiana, and has earned that distinction largely through involvement by community members and community volunteerism. The festival opens Friday, June 24 at 5 p.m. and on Saturday begins at 8 a.m.
Headlining the first night will be The Chee-Weez - a New Orleans-based band. The Chee-Weez are a five piece tribute/show band of unmatched proportions and will be bringing everything you love about all of your favorite music genres, including 70s funk, 80s cheeziness, 90s rock. When All Is Lost, a group from Pineville will open for The Chee-Weez that Friday evening.
Returning to Ruston for the June 25 headline concert is Dylan Scott who is a native of Bastrop, Louisiana. Scott's hits include "Crazy Over Me," "Lay It On Me," "Mmm Mmm Mmm" and "Thinking Out Loud." His hit "Making This Boy Go Crazy" has sold in excess of 130,000 units with well over 2.5 millions views of the accompanying music video.
Other activities at the festival include the Beta Sigma Phi Arts and Crafts show, the Peach Art exhibit, the Peach Hunt - a treasure hunt sponsored by CenterPoint Energy - a baby photo contest viewing, a peach cooking contest, a quilt and fiber art show and sale, a peach cobbler eating contest, parade and an antique car show.
For the little ones this year, the festival will have dinosaurs, a fishing tournament, Kids' Zone - which includes a bungie jump, rock wall and other amusements - and an activity tent.
The Lincoln Parish Park Kid's Fishing Tournament will be on June 24! The tournament is open to children age 12 and under. Bait will be provided but competitors must bring their own fishing pole. There is no entry fee or pre-registration for this event.
The "A Peach of My Heart" Parade will be the morning of June 25.
Taking the place of the traditional peach-eating contest, in honor of being hailed the Guinness World Record holder for Largest Peach Cobbler, Hampton Inn will sponsor a peach cobbler-eating contest. Contestants will need to pre-register for this event and the winner will receive an official Cobbler Eating Championship Belt.
