Shadowlawn is a striking Greek temple built chiefly of northern pine in 1833 by Simeon Smith. The rear of his home was attached to a smaller 1807 building, which was originally a tavern operated by Barnes Hulick and is presently serving as a gift shop. The house and extensive grounds compliment it's beautiful setting on the Bayou Teche. This provides a breathtaking view for wedding and other outdoor events. The gift shop has a wide variety of gifts for all occasions including antiques, regional art and books. Civil War artifacts are on view in the gift shop.
