Founded in 1979, the Center for Traditional Louisiana Boat Building does research into wooded boat building throughout South Louisiana. The Center contains old boats, new boats built in the old ways, and other artifacts associated with building wooden boats. Materials such as photographs, slides, oral history tapes and artifacts, are located in the office of the director in Lockport and available to the public. Classes for traditional wooden boat building offered on site by appointment.
