Country music superfest to feature Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw
When it comes to the lineup for the 2011 Bayou Country Superfest, 'super' doesn't even cover it.
There's only one place fans of country music should find themselves this Memorial Day weekend, May 28–29: Louisiana State University's Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.
The usual home for football fans is being taken over by kings of the country music world. Mega music star Kenny Chesney will return for the 2011 Bayou Country Superfest, joined by Louisiana natives Tim McGraw and Trace Adkins. Boosting the superfest title will be top-draws Sugarland, Zac Brown Band, Billy Currington, Luke Bryan, Jason Michael Carroll, Josh Thompson and Lee Brice.
"If you missed the first Bayou Country Superfest, then here’s your chance to see an unequalled galaxy of country music superstars to be found only in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, under the skies at LSU's Tiger Stadium,” said the event's producer/director Quint Davis.
Tim McGraw will headline the fest's opening night, joined by Sugarland and fellow Louisiana country music icon Trace Adkins. McGraw has had 32 No. 1 singles, including the recent "Felt Good On My Lips," and has sold more than 40 million albums. Meanwhile, the duo Sugarland, whose 2010 album, "The Incredible Machine," includes the hit “Stuck Like Glue,” has sold some eight million albums and won multiple Grammy, CMA and ACM awards.
On Sunday, Kenny Chesney, who headlined last year's first annual Bayou Country Superfest, brings his incendiary live show back as he looks to top his epic performance from 2010. With album sales topping 30 million and 20 No. 1 singles, Chesney is the second biggest live ticket seller of the decade in any genre of music.
The Grammy Award-winning Zac Brown Band will also take the stage on Sunday, along with Billy Currington, Jason Michael Carroll and Lee Brice.
The weekend's festivities will include a Fan Fest & Tailgate Party outside Tiger Stadium, with more country music, great food and drinks and activities from event sponsors. Fan Fest kicks off at 11 a.m. each day and is free to the public.
