July 4th festival in Baton Rouge
Every Independence Day, the historic battleship USS KIDD is the setting for a star-spangled celebration on the Baton Rouge riverfront.
A 4th of July celebration somehow takes on greater meaning when it unfolds in a historic military setting. So it is with Independence Day in Baton Rouge, where the battleship USS KIDD, which is permanently at home on the Mississippi River, hosts throngs of visitors for food, drink, tours and an impressive celebration.
The day begins with food and other concession booths opening at noon. Live musical entertainment is up next. Nashville's Jenny Brooks headlines the program, which includes vocalist Anita LeBlanc, and Westbound Train.
Then, stick around for a truly exciting event – an air show featuring F-15 Eagles jets staging a mock attack on the KIDD. The day wraps up with a nighttime display of spectacular fireworks over the river.
Join the fun in Red Stick Plaza, and take a tour of the USS KIDD Veterans Memorial and Museum. Spend the day along the Mississippi River for a 4th of July you won't soon forget.
