Like white on rice, gumbo and Louisiana are inseparable. Nowhere else in the world will you find our signature dish prepared as well or served with as much gusto!

Fall brings three opportunities to enjoy the best of Louisiana gumbo: the Bridge City Gumbo Festival, just outside New Orleans, the Louisiana Gumbo Festival, in Chackbay, near Thibodaux and the World Championship Gumbo Cookoff, in New Iberia. All three events feature thousands of gallons of Louisiana’s finest seafood gumbo and chicken-and-sausage gumbo prepared fresh at the festival grounds.

Look for plenty of other specialties as well, such as jambalaya, red beans and rice, and more. (Hamburgers, hot dogs and other festival standards will also be readily available.) Treat yourself to great live music and dancing in between servings of gumbo! For more details, see LouisianaGumboFest.comBridge City Gumbo Festival and Championship Gumbo Cookoff.

Want still more of Louisiana’s great specialties? Check out the Andouille Festival in LaPlace. The delectable sausage celebrated at this event will be on hand in abundance. Cooking contests will focus on using andouille in gumbos, jambalayas and many other dishes. For details see: AndouilleFestival.com.
