Greater New Orleans
The Greater New Orleans Area may be the most culturally effusive corner of the United States. This could be said of the old Creole City alone, with its French, African, German, Irish and Italian influences, among others. But it extends to a larger region that includes Cajun and Croatian fishing communities and a Vietnamese immigrant colony. In the Greater New Orleans Area, you’ll find the fabled Mardi Gras Indians or the lavish mock royalty balls at carnival time. There’s an Creole-Caribbean culture and architecture alongside elegant old aristocratic mansions. Here in the birthplace of jazz, you’ll find an enormous spectrum of activities. In the core city is the nation’s most vibrant night life; around the perimeter is some of the best fishing on earth. In the New Orleans area, weekends still count for something, family counts for everything and there’s always a party to be found, with an open invitation.
