East Feliciana Parish
The booming of cannons in Civil War reenactments and the heaving of stones in rustic Scottish field competitions stand in stark contrast to vintners meticulously crafting their wines, and the reverie of artists inspired by the beautiful rolling scenery of East Feliciana Parish, but all are part of the tapestry of attractions here. The deep history of the area, from Spanish colonial days to the 20th century, is on exhibit at the Republic of West Florida Historical Museum in Jackson. This city is also home to annual Civil War reenactments at the Port Hudson State Historic Site. Each November, the Highland Games of Louisiana provides a rollicking showcase of traditional Scottish athletic contests, plus dance, music and crafts. In Clinton, the Brick Streets Fine Arts Festival fills the community's Olde Towne section with artists' booths while, in the parish countryside, representatives of Louisiana's emerging wine industry ply their trade.
