Dr. Shirley Laska
University of New Orleans professor of Sociology
Dr. Laska is the Director Emerita of UNO's Center for Hazards Assessment, Response and Technology (CHART). CHART examines how communities prepare for hazardous situations, how they react and how they can become more resilient. CHART members have close ties to, and have done research on, a number of Louisiana coastal communities that are being affected by the oil disaster.
