Fertitta’s Delicatessen, Shreveport
Papa Fertitta knows his olives. The Fertitta’s olive mix, olive oil, and marinated olives are all delicious on their own, but what you really need to try at the delicatessen is a pressed muffuletta! Go for the original “Muffy” and you’ll get a 40 year old recipe with savory mustard, cold cuts, multiple cheeses, and the famously addictive olive mix. Bring a friend because the large is big enough for two!

The Sentry Drug Store captures a piece of American history. The people-first, local business is a cornerstone of downtown Alexandria. They are more than just a drug store though. Their famous Pattie Melt shouldn’t go unnoticed an neither should any of the other Sentry Grill daily specials.
Diamond Grill, Alexandria
Originally a jewelry store in downtown Alexandria, the Diamond Grill now exists as one of the finest restaurants in central Louisiana. The relaxed dining in an incredible atmosphere keeps locals and visitors alike coming back to Diamond Grill for a taste of succulent steak. Since 1967 Lasyone’s Meat Pie Restaurant has been serving up soulful Creole Cuisine including their world-famous Natchitoches meat pies. The pies are stuffed with a mixture that is 80% beef and 20% pork then deep friend until golden brown. Lasyone’s also serves up crawfish pies for those who want a different taste of the bayou. There is plenty of other great fare on the menu, but the meat pies are truly a food you need to try before you die!
What can we say? There's a pie theme forming for the Red River Riches Trail. No trip along I-49 is complete without pulling off at Exit 66 and heading to Lea's for a slice of pie. They've been serving their delicious pies and famous baked ham since 1928. We're partial to the coconut meringue, but their pecan pie put them on the map. Grab a slice of the seasonal berry pie to take home. Is there such a thing as too much pie?
