Strolling past restaurants and shops on the Riverwalk in Vidalia, Concordia's largest city, and watching travelers zoom over the Mississippi River as they cross into Louisiana, it's easy to see the role the mighty river has played in parish history, and its continued influence today. The interplay of past and present is also alive throughout Concordia and play out in vivid detail at Frogmore Cotton Plantation & Gins, where visitors learn about life for planters and slaves in the 19th century and then tour a modern, working cotton operation. The region's musical heritage is on display in Ferriday, birthplace of rock and roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis and home to the Delta Music Museum. In April, the Delta Music Festival draws national celebrities to perform here. Lake St. John and Lake Concordia teem with fish, while lodges and sportsmen's clubs around the parish give hunters a shot at wild game.
