Civil War

Louisana was the site of many significant events in the Civil War, and landmarks around the state have been set aside to commemorate the events and sacrifices made there. These include the site of the Battle of New Orleans, the Chalmette National Cemetery, the site of the Battle of Pleasant Hill and many other places where re-enactments or commemorations are staged annually. Museums throughout the state hold artifacts, documents and even photos from this crucial period in the nation's history.
