Catahoula Parish was formed 1808, and named after the Catahoula Lake. The name “Catahoula” is believed to be derived from the Choctaw Indian word “Okkattahoula,” which means “beautiful clear water.”Features quaint towns such as Harrionsburg, Sicily Island, Jonesville Enterprise and Larto.
