While we all complain about how hot and sticky our summers can be, the warm weather allows us to enjoy the sportsman’s paradise that is our Louisiana. The multitude of waterways in and around Tangipahoa Parish make it easy to tolerate those humid, boggy days. Boating, swimming, fishing, canoeing, tubing, all these relaxing activities just wouldn’t be as fun if we could only enjoy them for a couple of months.

Fortunately for us, the majority of these warm weather activities are easily accessible. Located right in our backyard are 7 amazing campgrounds. While each is certainly unique, the common focus is outdoor fun.

A self proclaimed ‘city girl’, my mental picture for the word camping is a scene consisting of a beautiful starry night, pop-up tent, grass, bonfires, fishing, and bugs! Luckily for me, I have a boss who LOVES camping. She introduced me to the world of camping “Ms. Betty” style. This form of camping involves a modern RV, satellite television, and a beautiful invention named astro-turf. Yes it seems even this city girl can enjoy the great outdoors...just as long as my feet never touch the real grass.

The more adventurous soul would enjoy primitive camping. Perhaps a hiking excursion or a day of fishing interests you. Activities ranging from paddleboats to badminton matches, baseball tournaments to Swamp Pop festivals, beauty pageants to horseback riding are held any given weekend right here at our Tangipahoa Parish campgrounds.

The Tangipahoa Parish area campgrounds offer a variety of choices for those interested in a weekend camping excursion or just a day out with the kids. Choosing which campground to patronize depends on the types of activities you want to participate in. If you family owns a motorhome/fifth wheel/RV, all of the campgrounds can accommodate your hook-up needs. If seclusion is what you desire, pick an RV park that is off the beaten path. Should you need non-stop action for the kids, choose a campground that emphasizes daily activities.

Each of our seven campgrounds is a little different. Many have websites that showcase pictures from past weekends. You will see photos of cabins, lists of sporting activities, calendars of events, and more. The owners of each of these establishments strive to meet all their guests’ inquiries. Feel free to call for more information on each campground.
