While this route is flat and pedaling is easy, only very experienced cyclists should attempt it because of the difficult traffic conditions. You will encounter heavy traffic as you leave the French Quarter and cross Canal Street. The route takes you through the trendy Warehouse District, with its many art galleries and restaurants, and within a block of the National World War II Museum. When you get into the Garden District and Uptown, you will have to negotiate narrower, heavily traveled streets with much stop-and-go traffic. If you take plenty of time and use caution, however, you will find plenty to see and do.

Magazine Street is filled with antique shops, restaurants and specialty stores. It has become a very popular shopping and dining corridor, and its many coffee shops, often with outdoor seating, make good stopping places. When you cut over to Camp Street you’ll enjoy the view of many lovely New Orleans homes. The route takes you through beautiful Audubon Park at the far end, and right along the campuses of Tulane University and Loyola University of the South, as you head back toward the downtown area, along graceful and historic St. Charles Avenue.
