Mardi gras parades in north/central louisiana
A "little mister" is giving out "throws" at a Mardi Gras parade in Alexandria.

Carnival organizations, known as "krewes," stage parades, balls, parties and many family-oriented events in communities from Shreveport-Bossier to Alexandria and Natchitoches. Here is a schedule of parades slated during the 2014 Carnival season. Check the individual websites for information about the many other related events scheduled in each city.

Fri., Feb. 28, 4:30 p.m.: College Cheerleaders & Classic Cars Parade, Downtown

Fri., Feb. 28, 7 p.m.: Taste of Mardi Gras Night, Alexandria Riverfront Center

Sat., Feb. 29, 10:45 a.m.: AMGA Annual Children's Parade, Downtown

Sun., March 2, 2 p.m.: AMGA Annual Krewe Parade, Downtown

Sat. Feb. 15, 10:30 a.m.: Children's Mardi Gras Parade, Pecanland Mall's Center Court. 

Sat. Feb. 15, 11:00 a.m.: Krewe of Paws Mardi Gras Pet Parade, West Monroe

Sat. Feb. 15, 6 p.m.: Krewe of Janus Mardi Gras Parade, Monroe

Mardi Gras 2014 Parades in Shreveport:

Krewe of Centaur's parade will roll at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014.

Krewe of Barkus and Meoux parade is on Sunday, Feb. 23 at 3 p.m.

Krewe of Gemini parade is on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 4:30 p.m.

Krewe of Highland parade is on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 2 p.m.
