Spanish Town Parade in Baton Rouge.

As Louisiana counts down to Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras on February 7, 2015, communities throughout the state ready their costumes, floats and parade trinkets for several days of festivities. In the capital city of Baton Rouge, the final two weekends before Mardi Gras are peppered with parties and parades tailor-made for family fun.

During Mardi Gras in Baton Rouge you can experience the classic tradition of ornate masquerade balls or see lavishly decorated floats built by southern Louisiana’s finest float builders. However, the capital city experience is far more exciting than just that. Here you can see the Krewe of Spanishtown’s custom-made wooden flamingos flock Louisiana State University’s lakes or watch a parade of costumed pups in the Krewe of Mutts! Baton Rouge offers the perfect bridge of tradition and fun to make for an unforgettable experience.
