Clear streams, piney woods and idyllic communities filled with antiques shops, galleries and restaurants line the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Revel in Northshore art, music and culture during the fun-filled fall festival season.

Take home a treasure from the Abita Springs Whole Town Garage Sale & Flea Market (March 26, 2016), the Covington Antiques and Uniques Festival (April 16-17, 2016), or the Olde Towne Slidell Spring Antique Street Fair (April 23-24). Don’t miss the inaugural Festival Bonfouca March 18-20 in Slidell for two stages of music found only in Louisiana, a fishing tournament, and activities for all ages in the Family Village. The sweet sounds of the Northshore can also be heard during the spring concert series at The Dew Drop Jazz Hall, Abita Opry, Pontchartrain Vineyards, and the cities of Mandeville, Covington, and Slidell. Literary and birding enthusiasts flock to the The Jane Austen Literary Festival (March 19-20, 2016) and the Great Louisiana BirdFest (April 15-17, 2016), both in Mandeville. Come hungry—the Northshore is home to a dynamic culinary scene. The bounty of the bayou can be sampled at the 13th Annual Crawfish Cook-Off in Slidell (April 16, 2016) or during the five-day culinary celebration A Taste of Covington (April 6-10, 2016). To plan your getaway, check out the Northshore event calendar.
