Civil War Battle of Pleasant Hill re-enacted
A major event in the Red River Campaign of the Civil War is revisited every year at Pleasant Hill.
Union and Confederate forces faced each other at Pleasant Hill, near Pelican, Louisiana, on April 9, 1864. To this day, volunteers gather annually to commemorate the events.
More than 400 people join in to re-enact the battle, making the miniature Civil War town come alive. Festivities include a parade, pageant, period dance, church services and open camp activities. The 2011 re-enactment is scheduled April 9-10. For more information visit Battle of Pleasant Hill or call 318-686-8545.
